Brondesbury CC to host event organised by the World’s Best Cricket Club podcast

A special day of cricket, entertainment and fundraising will take place at Brondesbury Cricket Club on Thursday 27 August, from 9:30am as the World’s Best Cricket Club podcast charity cricket day brings together former professional cricketers, content creators, supporters and young players in aid of the Cricketers’ Trust.
Organised by Team WBCC, the event will feature two T20 matches alongside junior coaching, family entertainment, food and drink, raffle prizes and opportunities for supporters to get closer to the action.
The day has been designed to celebrate the cricket community while raising awareness and funds for the Cricketers’ Trust, which provides support to current and former professional cricketers and their dependants during times of hardship and difficulty.
Cricket will be at the heart of the event, with two T20 fixtures bringing together a mixture of familiar cricketing names and personalities from across the game and its online community.
Team WBCC will take on Smashings Legends, while Content Creators CC will face Runs4Research XI in a second T20 contest.
With players and personalities coming together for a cause bigger than the result, the emphasis will be on competitive but entertaining cricket and giving spectators a memorable day at Brondesbury CC.
The event will also welcome Andrew Patterson, formerly of Ireland and Sussex, as the Cricketers’ Trust special guest.
Patterson was diagnosed with Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia in 2013 and has since shared his experiences and journey, providing an inspiring example of the importance of support within the cricket family.
His presence will underline the purpose behind the day: using cricket to bring people together while supporting those within the professional game who have faced life-changing circumstances.
The WBCC Charity Cricket Day is also aimed firmly at inspiring the next generation.
Junior coaching masterclasses will give young players the opportunity to learn from experienced cricketers, pick up new skills and enjoy coaching in the surroundings of a special charity event.
The sessions form an important part of WBCC’s ambition for the day — not simply to stage two cricket matches, but to create an event in which young players and families can become part of the occasion.
Away from the boundary, spectators can expect plenty throughout the day, including raffle prizes, a bar and food, activities and entertainment for all ages.
The combination of T20 cricket and family activities is intended to create a festival atmosphere and make the event accessible to committed cricket supporters and families alike.
Most importantly, the day provides an opportunity for the wider cricket community to rally behind the work of the Cricketers’ Trust.
The Cricketers’ Trust exists to support professional cricketers and their immediate families when they need help, providing assistance during difficult circumstances and helping members of the cricket community deal with unexpected challenges.
The WBCC Charity Cricket Day will put that work firmly at the centre of the occasion.
